Really? Iran was offered a steady supply of such isotopes, with no result.

    •  Iran was offered complete dependency on (0+ / 0-)

foreign power who have in the past thrown away all obligations, robbing the Iranian people blind?

I don't think you're aware of the history here.  After the revolution, the West cut all arms contracts and did not give the money back, then encouraged Saddam to attack Iran.

Now why the hell would trust anyone other nation to honor this "we'll give you shit for free" promise?

They aren't idiots.  They know it's just an attempt to gain another lever over them.

But, what Iran did agree to do was give all their 20% LEU to Turkey in exchange for a similar amount of fuel for their research reactor.  They were completely willing to forgo having any worrisome stockpile of 20% LEU.

President Lula of Brazil brokered the deal at President Obama's prompting.  And then the Obama Administration did a flip-flop and rejected the very deal they asked Lula to broker!

The objective isn't the prevention of nuclear proliferation.

      That's the excuse.

to supply spare military parts to Iran after they committed an act of war against the US by seizing our embassy????

      •  In other words, (0+ / 0-)

they chose to reject the offer of supplies of such isotopes on the pretext that the Western nations cannot be trusted to carry out agreements. And for that, they need their own reactor program. Iran, of course, has been as good as its word with regard to inspections. By this logic, of course, there would be little point in attempting to negotiate now or ever.

As you say, that's just the excuse.

And I don't think you're aware of the history here. Regarding claims, there was an agreement, years of negotiations and billions in settlements. That, of course, counts for nothing in your, or Iran's, universe.

        •  Western nations *can't* be trusted to carry (0+ / 0-)

          out agreements.

          Crack a history book.
