I have a Bosch washing machine which died probably from a control board fried by frequent power outages. The motor is probably still good. I think I'll put it on something like a Monster Mill when the time comes, once I have the rest of the system to justify it.

    •  My first attempt used a dryer motor (0+ / 0-)

I direct-coupled it, which was just too fast. Switched to a better, more enclosed motor, as well as belt/pulley system to gear it down. Mounted it all to a cart. Works!

a 12-inch pulley which attaches with a single bolt. I figure that's a good start. I'll just tinker with it and add another pulley if need be.
