    Oily fish, such as mackerel or sardines, are very high in Omega-3 fatty acids. Oysters are also a fantastic source.

    The recommendation is 4 - 3oz servings of fish per week, or 3 - 4 oz servings. You can also take fish oil supplements if you don't eat fish that often.

      A term I first encountered here at Daily Kos a few years ago.

      The Mediterranean diet emphasizes olive oil, veggies, and fish, and tends to result in pretty good health.

      ....but I live smack dab in the center of the North American continent so I don't have great fish options in regards to mercury except fish farming which is not that environmentally great either.

      Our food budget is tough as it is because my partner has celiac disease (my body loves gluten however) so for us less meat is both environmentally better, but also cheaper. However it remains something we can both eat at once which is not always the case.
