    One thing I've discovered is I can get the parts online for about $40. Depending what your costs are for going to the specialist that may be cheaper if you really don't need the follow up care.  I don't have insurance any longer, so I have to buy my own. The same parts are over $200 at the local medical supply store.

    I've discovered as well that the 'estimates' they give you at the hospital vary wildly. And I'm going to fall into the cracks of the ACA because my stupid state won't expand medicaid and I don't make enough to qualify for the subsidy. It would cost almost as much as our rent to get health insurance for the two of us, plus out of pocket costs..that would add up to more than our current income. So I guess until we can get the state republicans out of office or something changes with the law, we are still screwed.
