  •  Gubermint shuts down, they don't paid either (22+ / 0-)

...and that's not crazy talk, either.

The USDA (yes, that USDA) processes a vast majority of paychecks for government workers, encompassing all three branches through the NFC:

The National Finance Center (NFC), located in New Orleans, Louisiana, provides reliable, cost-effective, employee-centric, systems and services to Federal organizations thus allowing our customers to focus on serving this great Nation through their mission delivery. NFC's customer base is comprised of more than 140 Federal organizations, representing all three branches of the Government.
You think those teabagging congresscritters or their staffs are going to be happy about not seeing a paycheck on the 1st and 15th?  I doubt it, even to make a point.

Or, that Social Security Administration benefits processing computers shutdown because the government can't / won't pay overtime utilities to the leased building owners to keep the power on?

I could go on and on.  These fukwits have no clue how government really operates.  None.

    •  If that happens, it will be Obama's fault. (9+ / 0-)

    •  The teabagger congresscritters won't (9+ / 0-)

even notice that they didn't get their paychecks on the 1st and 15th, because their wealthy patrons will make sure they're taken care of.  But their staffers?  They'll feel the bite.  And oh fucking by the way, all those troops you're not gonna pay?  A disturbing number of them vote Republican.

The blowback from this little stunt has the potential to get REALLY interesting.

I'll believe corporations are people when one comes home from Afghanistan in a body bag.

Are Democrats.  I keep thinking as these elected officials repeatedly display their contempt for government workers that civil servants and military are likely to be regular voters.

How many wrongs does it take to make a right?

    •  Is there a way to furlough select Senators (1+ / 0-)

and Congressmen long enough to get the bill passed?  If so much of the rest of the government is being furloughed, why not give it a try?

      •  Furlough for Senators and Reps not necessary (4+ / 0-)

That's what I was getting at - they just aren't gonna get paid on the first and the fifteenth, like every other government worker.

USDA / NFC cuts their checks.  If government is shutdown, there's going to be no exception for NFC.  USDA / NFC employees will be furloughed.  It literally takes a village to make the system work and get the checks out.  Do you think they'll make exception for NFC?  I don't think it would be politically expedient to do so.

However, if you think about it, would be karma, with the House just voting to cut SNAP (which is also administered by USDA).

What goes around, comes around.  Like I said, these teabagging idiots (and even the non-teabaggers, both Dem and GOP) have NO idea how government really works and what kind of grease it takes to keep the wheels turning day-to-day.

(like Cruz, Paul and other tea-baggers) during the period the vote is taken.  Keep all the Dems and just enough Republicans to have a quorum, then get a good budget bill through.

          One can dream.
