Now, there's a challenge! It's my sense that the Cons are all about ownership, but it's an ownership of things or other people, not themselves.
I don't think not owning themselves or up to themselves is a matter of self-denial or self-abnegation -- more likely an absence of recognition. Perhaps owning other things is to compensate for a lack of self-awareness.
I think we see growing self-awareness in infants when we see them observing their fingers exploring their environment. I wonder if that behavior is absent in some children.
I used to think that a fourth would be nice, if I could be guaranteed one that wouldn't be hyperactive. I knew they existed because I had seen some passive babies who just stayed where they were plopped. Now I wonder if there are also children who never have to be told "don't touch" because they just don't explore with their hands. I know some children hate to get dirt on their hands. Is it what they see or what they feel that upsets them?
