    Does he

    1) Cement his status as an insane ideologue ready, willing and able to blow up the economy in a fit of pique, while simultaneously teaching all of us that no legislation is real and can be derailed by a committed band of fanatics from either party who choose to use this new ad hoc entirely outside the legal process of "de-funding", dooming us to live in everlasting Republican Economic Chaos Groundhog Day?

    2) Become the "surrender monkey" he has trained his foaming, fanatic followers to revile?

Since this is a no-win , he should send Harry Reid a thank-you card when he is prevented from choosing either path.

    •  He won't be able to shake the (0+ / 0-)

"surrender monkey" designation.  His supporters have already been trained to view anything less than total success as surrender.  He made a bad, bad gambit and will lose this game as well as much of his initial allure.  Couldn't happen to a more deserving teaparty icon.
