I'm surprised that this happened at the Northern Border, I rarely hear of it up here.  They're brutal at the Southern border.

Must be they're rotating the staff out from the southern border, I'd be curious to know if they are transplants or not.

I do know there were "drills" and "training" going on the last few weeks up here.  Maybe this an example of how they're being "correctly" trained.

The more I listen to the interview, the more angry I get at this criminal behavior.

It sounds like they are intentionally trying to instigate people into breaking the law or doing something that they could twist into such.

overbearing bullies with no redeeming social graces.....

They think they own everything and can go anywhere and due to bushbaby we are close to that reality....

iirc it's a 50-100 mile exclusion zone that basically gives you no rights that can't be overturned by BP fiat....

Plus it's one of the most wasteful of any gov agency I have ever seen....

Years ago I used to sell suspension upgrades to the local Tucson Sector  vehicle maintenance division....They get a new truck, strip much of the suspension and tires and replace with upgrades then go out yahooing through the Desert, the most fragile ecosystem in the country is being destroyed by idiot BP agents on quads and in trucks....At least the horse patrol is gentle on the environment......

Not to mention that back then about a decade or so, the Tucson Sector alone was destroying a million dollars a month in equipment alone.....

        •  Agreed, there are still horse patrols of the rough (1+ / 0-)

-est of the terrain but I agree they could do an overall better job if every agent on a quad, hundreds if not more, was on horseback.....

plus it would have the added benefit of helping with the huge horse overpopulation problem right now....

not even so much that as a horse owner financial catastrophe that left them unable to feed and care for their horses....

not only did their income crash, but after Hurricane Katrina, hay prices doubled from 6-7 to 12 -14 and now it runs as high as 18 bucks a bale offseason....this literally happened overnight, from one hay purchase of a couple bales to the next and has never dropped below about 15 since...

          That's a killer for a horse owner....thank ghu I have a Donkey.......eats less and rougher forage happily....less water too.

I would love to see the quads all abolished and replaced by agents on horseback.....

Get good trainers and give the trainers the ability to fire agents the horses absolutely refuse to trust......
