  •  I danced in second grade (4+ / 0-)

to "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles." Danced with the Tulsa Civic Ballet in high school too. Was part of the chorus in "Oklahoma" for the all-school play. Years later I played keyboards for the Honky Dreads (America's Premier Third World White Guy Band), then sang backup for some stage bands here and there. Can't carry a tune in a bucket, but could lip-synch with style.

Then we became a family clown/Vaudeville troupe, hundreds of gigs. Did two seasons at a theme park in WNC when we moved here, had our own theater! Six shows a day, seven days a week, 26 weeks a year. Talk about grueling! Now I mostly stick with costumes and props...

Best act I ever stage managed was Championship Poodle Wrestling. New Vaudeville on the Riverwalk, very popular. Our son would dress in satin short-overalls and pullover hood, the poodle (90-pound standard named Bob) had a big gold lame belt. Set a 12' square piece of astroturf, stancions and ropes. The poodle loved to wrestle him, jumping up and pushing, son was very athletic and could make it look like that pood slammed him clear across the ring! He'd lay there, Bob would take a flying leap on top of him and hold him down ...the poodle always won, of course.
