  •  The public pays for the military, right? (7+ / 0-)

So it is the public's problem. A military that believes it's not accountable to the public it's supposed to protect eventually believes it should rule the country instead of the other way around.

so if someone is on public health care then you should be able to know what they are being treated for?

And if someone is on public food assistance you should be able to examine their shopping receipts?

And since they are on those two you should be able to find out if they are doing unhealthy things like taking drugs so you should be able to test them for drugs?

      Careful what you ask for.........

and I don't hear anyone saying they have the right to know private health records, which is a far cry from the transparency of a crime committed and having the accused stand in a court of law like the rest of the public.

        Cheers

        1. What does it mean? 2. And then what?

Out of the Army.  They shredded most of them.  I'm safe :)

you stated that the public has a right to military records because they are paying the bills.  I caution you to be careful about using the "Im paying for it" standard.  It is a very slippery slope.

I think there are lots of good reasons for the public to have access to data on the military.  I dont think paying the bills is one of them.

      •  That analogy isn't remotely accurate. (2+ / 0-)

The military is covering up sexual assault and telling us not to question them. Try harder.

      •  Someone with civilian authority does go over (1+ / 0-)

A welfare recipients purchases, they have to provide their bank statements.  Someone does oversee health records in a civilian oversight environment unless it is an Army medical facility where half of my health records have disappeared.
