So here we have this kid: Here is his picture. Here is his NAME. Here's the town where he lives (just the town mind you, because he doesn't have an actual address). We aired this weeks ago.

And I'm supposed to believe this (probably fictitious) slack-ass is still getting SNAP benefits? I mean if in fact he ever did to begin with.

First of all, you don't get SNAP if you don't have an address. Even though they no longer send actual books of stamps to you through the mail, they're still a little persnickety about certain things. Like say - if you don't have an address, that means you don't have a home. And if you don't have a home, then you'd have nowhere to store and prepare all this food we're giving you... now would you?

At least that's the way it is here in Ohio. You not only need an address, you sign a statement saying you have facilities to store and prepare food. If you live in a multi-person household, you state that you... yourself, have a separate place for food storage and preparation... for yourself.

Secondly, okay, obviously this kid is no rocket scientist (although he may be a fair to middlin' actor), but going on national TV to flaunt your free ride on the taxpayer's dime isn't the brightest thing one could do... is it?

Thirdly, if approximately fifteen minutes after the airing of this episode, this kid was still getting SNAP, then hell yeah, there's a problem - in this one case.

There's another underlying message in this whole brouhaha too. The never stated suggestion that Food Stamps is a gummint bureaucracy staffed by a bunch of lazy DFHs on a free ride of their own. And their goal is to support a horde of like-minded "free spirits" while we all laugh ourselves silly over the rich dupes we're feeding off of.

It's bullshit, and anyone who has ever tried to get on cash assistance, medicaid, and/or food stamps knows it.

What a pity the rethugs and Faux News continue thinking everyone is as stupid as they are.

Meddle not in the affairs of dragons... for thou art crunchy and good with ketchup.

      you called it Pariah Dog.
bullshit to play to the rubes.

I'm a lifetime California surfer. lived and surfed in Santa Barbara for 22 years. lived the hand to mouth existence most of that time. usually had 2-3 low-paying jobs and still barely squeak by. rents and living costs just insane. but you did because you loved it, you were dedicated. the quality this kid obviously lacks.

this kid is a Fox producer's idea of what a surf bum looks like and acts like. the clothes, attitude, style all of it, not even close.
You could also tell from his hair and build that he didn't surf.

they got some kid actor, picked his clothes, wrote him a script, the whole deal.

fyi the surf culture of southern California, and of the world too, but particularly So. Cal. is a proud and noble tribe. You earn your spot in the lineup and on the beach. Surfers are rugged individuals who are proud of living a low impact lifestyle in tune with nature, yet would give the shirt off their back literally to any brother or sister in need.

Assholes like this guy would be shunned, if not chased off the beach.
You may have noticed he didn't dare paddle out to that break they showed him posing on the beach in front of. I seriously doubt if he even know how to paddle a board.
That was WindandSea. he would've had his ass kicked. its one of the worst places for hostile locals in California. made famous in The Pump House Gang.

no man is completely worthless, he can always be used as a bad example.
