  •  Isaac Bonewits was a bit different (5+ / 0-)

A good friend of mine knew him, and said he was refreshingly free of a lot of the New Age/channeling junk that was popular around then.  He was much more into trying to restore/recreate Druidism...and he was very much aware of all the bullshit that's sprung up around neopaganism, Wicca, and so on.  I wish I'd met him, because he sounded like a fascinating man.

As for Misty Lackey rewriting Atlantis (with dragons)...not a surprise.  Not in the least.... :/

    •  I met him once,years ago, at Starwoods. (3+ / 0-)

Most of what I remember was him being so thoroughly pissed that people were still so interested in "Real Magic" when he'd done so much better work.

But he's also one of my data points in the "channels tend to have really weird neurological symptoms" pattern. I'm not particularly talking New Age here. People who work in what's generally considered the psychic area, when they're not frauds (i.e. whatever's going on, they take it seriously), seem to be more prone to neurological dysfunction than the norm. My evidence is anecdotal, for the most part, but it's what I've got.

At least half the future I've been expecting hasn't gotten here yet. Sigh.... (Yes, there's gender bias in my name; no, I wasn't thinking about it when I signed up. My apologies.)
