    We could hire more guards or medical staff. I don't think we want that.
    Unemployment is high. More jobs would be great.

    Wait, you mean we don't want to pay for more workers. Umm... do you have any idea what mental health workers make? Net cost will not be lower than current. Much less cruel, but not cheaper.

    Care still needs to be given. Caregivers still need to be paid.

    Remarkably few of the mentally ill ( me, for instance) don't need to be hospitalized. We just need decent health care.

      to hiring more guards or workers but many here have rightly complained of a Prison Industrial Complex (PIC) and a pipeline that exisits for the sole purpose of generating more prisoners.

      I am a "letter of the law" kind of guy so I do not mind locking up people who break the law but we really need more sensible laws, more sensible incarceration terms, and more sensible policing.
