explaining in advance how amazingly you will go down in history before reality has had time to digest over years and decades just exactly what a person's legacy really was.... how pathetically self important.

The inflated ego needed for that kind of self PR... sheesh... does he not get that if he really was "CHURCHILLIAN"... it would be up to others, much, much LATER as a consensus of historians to say that... and not via he, himself... now.

It used to bug me that a brand new Disney cartoon would be billed as a "Disney Classic"... with the movie just opening....

...and like unto that... the PR puffery and crystal-ball advance self-praise of a twit like Cruz bugs me in the same way but even more so since unlike a Disney animation which would be a safe bet to be "classic" some day... Cruz would not be that kind of "classic"... no he would be another kind of classic...

Unknown to a big brained but self-serving fool like him he will not be remembered as a Class act statesman or a towering figure in world history... he is destined instead to be a classic joke. And not even a very good one.

a bigot who viewed India as colonial property and did everything to keep the jewel and had an intense hatred of Gandhi.  As an Indian-American whose parents were born in India before independence, Ted Cruz can have his comparison.  They are both reprehensible figures, though the reasons may differ (or may be numerous for both)

he was a crazy man and a bigot when he was not running a nation at war... which he was mostly good at even with his deficiencies... as the front man doing PR stuff he was very good (even though he sometimes used stand-ins... for personal appearances and even some radio addresses...) and pretty successful at overseeing a very socialist top down command economy for the war... but easy to do when you get to just issue orders and get them carried out under emergency conditions... and mostly good at running the war... but that said he had some dumb ideas that crashed and burned almost as badly as Gallipoli... another thing he apparently had a hand in during the first WW. But fortunately a lot of them were overruled by somewhat wiser heads.

But all Cruz knows is the bronze statue version of Churchill with V sign and cigar.... giving a stirring speech... and he will never be that as a fiction let alone approaching even part of the myth version of Churchill.

But he might end up being something more like that other Churchill who for instance refused to meet with that damn Fakir in the nappy (Gandhi)... he really was old school bigot in lots of ways and was all for invading and occupying Ireland to keep it safe from the Germans along with other imperial notions...

But he was useful  and successful overall as a war time leader... not so much after or before... luckily Cruz will never be put to the test in peace or war to be either type of Churchill... nobody will vote him into higher office unless the world has gone mad.
