    certainty of the criminal just-us system. Rightly or wrongly, I think they fear the more cases overturned, the more people will seek retrials especially if they do not vigorously prosecute the 2nd time around.

      Those who are trained as lawyers have an overriding adherence to "The Process" and what the process does MUST be okay because THE PROCESS IS NEVER WRONG.

      Anyone ever played dungeon's and dragons? Those trained in law are trained to behave in the "Lawful Neutral" alignment. Follow the law, neutral regarding either good or evil.

      To function in a legal manner is to act only along existing train tracks, never leaving the line because that is violating the law.

      The more examples you get of The Legal Process doing the wrong thing, the more that their entire structure of the world is undermined. Hence the quieting of examples of the death penalty being applied to innocent people.
