    He told himself he was doing it for his family but he sees he kept doing it for his ego and his pride, and then he's lost everything. He'll be dead, he killed the drug empire he created to try to make amends, and his family hates him. He's a ruined man.

      isn't the idea that he has to provide for his family, all on his own, even to the point that he refuses to accept help from others, a very prideful way of thinking in the first place?
