Here's alink to a photo of Pete Ham and the young Dixie he refers to in Baby Blue.

Pete and Dixie were together for a couple of years before they amicably parted ways.  Dixie still lives in the US, happily married and working in the health care profession.

Pete Ham, as you may know, committed suicide in 1975, a month before his only daughter was born, after learning Badfinger's US management had stolen all of their money, resulting in the cancellation of their recording contract with Warner Bros.   His fellow bandmate and co-songwriter, Tom Evans committed suicide in 1983, telling his wife "I want to be where Pete is".

On a more cheerful note, Pete Ham's daughter Petera, who receives all the royalties for her father's impressive catalogue, recently gave birth to her first child.

I've always liked their music and became more closely involved as a fan after reading Dan Matovina's book "Without You".  Since then, I've volunteered on a few projects in support of Badfinger and Pete's legacy.  Trying to help Dan to complete an updated version of his book. Badfinger has always had a very loyal, if sometimes small, fan base. Never realized Vince Gilligan was one of us!

There's a VH1 Behind the Scenes doc on You Tube along with a couple of other documentaries, BBC, etc.

Apple Records came out with remastered versions of their albums a little over a year ago. Paul McCartney has been supportive of their legacy and all of the Apple artists. Dan recently put out more material from Pete's old demo tapes.

It's very rewarding that more people get a chance to learn about a great band and a very fine artist.  They deserve all the recognition coming their way.

driving from Chicago to Mobile AL for my brother's wedding.  My other two brothers and I (and our mother) had AM radio on and "Baby Blue" played constantly all the way down, but we never got tired of it.  Great song, great band.
