    was saying that there might be times when it's appropriate to have a carry permit, but not necessarily open carry. I could see having a carry permit in some areas -- for example, if you have to take large sums of cash collections from your church to the bank for deposit. (My father-in-law was on the collection counting committee and often made the weekly deposit on Mondays; fortunately the bank was right across the street from the church and down the street from the police station so he never ran into any trouble.) But having a carry permit is different from open carry.

      I probably phrased it inappropriately. I don't think open carry for civilians is ever legitimate in a public space. In the woods, on the other hand...

        Moving large sums of money (armored car drivers are generally 'civilians'), maybe a few other circumstances I am not thinking of.  There are places...but not a soccer game.
