the movie not TV series and for those not aware of the movie the plot is about a highly decorated marine colonel that goes in to a middle eastern country (forget which one) in response to a riot outside our embassy. Things devolve quickly and he orders his marines to open fire on the crowd on the grounds that there are weapons present. The movie is about the resulting court martial and the government's antics in trying to make an example out of the colonel.

The relevant part is that the ambassador ends up lying on the stand and while the defense knows it when they confront the ambassador's wife about it later she basically replies along the lines of 'he's a good man but we all have our priorities'.

And I can't help but believe that is true. I mean I know in my own life I've often been so caught up in my own struggles that I've perhaps let moments pass that I shouldn't have.

All I can offer you or anyone else is the advice I live by, do the best you possibly can in the moment you are in and then learn from the experience and move forward.

    •  That is good advice (2+ / 0-)

but can you imagine how different things would be in real life if people acted on their making truths known and standing for causes that affect lives from climate change to wrongful imprionsment on a one on one level in their daily lives.  To call out liars and hypocrites.  It would be  a much different world.
