  •  After fifteen years... (12+ / 0-)

I'm still low man on the totem pole at work so I usually end working with Christmas and New Years Eve. Plus I live the closest to the office so I usually have to pull Blizzard duty as well. There was a day last Winter when it started snowing and blowing around 11AM, I made it in to work for my usual 2PM start of my shift and didn't get home until well after midnight.

No one knows what it's like, To be the bad man, To be the sad man, behind blue eyes....

with me i'm not exactly low man on the totem pole it's just that no one else wants to work anything but the hours assigned them. Some of the reasons are valid, some aren't for example like you I pulled blizzard duty last year but I am not the closest guy. The closest guy actually refused and while it's a pain right now I'm fairly ambitious and more over the OT goes to paying off my stupid student loans at a pace that is faster then glacial.

About the only time I regret it is certain times of the year like Oktoberfest, Samhain, the winter solistace and certain celebrations I want to travel home for but such is the price of being an adult.
