  •  I prefer to call any of their offices (5+ / 0-)

that I can get through to on the phone.
my senators are Ted Cruz and John Cornyn.
In their case emails from me are going to be ignored but I can tie up their phone lines with an endless rant against what they are doing/not doing.
If I get through then it's a few less tea baggers that can phone in.

OMG I have five bars for the first time ever in almost 10 years. The new Robokosbot must be screwed up.

I do sympathize, having once been the butt of jokes about having "Senator Pothole" as one who was mis-representing us.

These days Al D'Amoto looks positively statesman like.

      Sometimes.

Senatorial staffer (of 3 yrs ago) :

If you can, send a FAX.

Mail takes too long. Zillion signatures collected by interest groups do not have much impact.

E-mails are so/so.  Calls do tie up phones, but annoy the hell out of staffers.

But Faxes, get put in a pile - either pro or con (keep it short & sweet with 2 paragraphs and a concluding sentence).  Are timely.  The height of the piles COUNTS.

      •  The staffers I talk to are invariably nice. (1+ / 0-)

I do not yell at them although they hear my passion...just give my opinions and reinforce the fact that their boss does represent me whether he likes it or not.
Seems that over 30% of staffers agree with me anyway.
I could not get through to Cruz's office late last week of course.

if you or others had access to a FAX machine.

In the case of J - yes, he is a polite young man.  He had good manners instilled by his parents  (except for when he went through the terrible threes!!  His sister had a scornful name for him then - The Little Prince!).

J was really shocked at the bad language and nastiness of some of the mail.  Luckily, he didn't pick it up as a model.  He worked on Obama's campaign and now is working for a company which helps with compliance of environmental regulations.
