Whatever you think of Rand, her views have nothing to do with the Dream Defenders...the fact that you think they go against "everything the Dream Defenders stand for" shows that you probably don't have a clue what Rand actually stood for (again, good or bad).

Seriously, what in her writing or philosophy leads you believe that Rand somehow stood for SYB, racial profiling and the school to prison pipeline? For crying out loud, that's absurd. Have you ever written a word she wrote?

She has some pretty controversial ideas, but I'm pretty sure you don't know what they are.

Dammit Jim, I'm a lawyer, not a grammarian. So sue me.

that altruism is the root of all evil according to Rand with the selfless activism of the Dream Defenders?

      •  Of course it is. The same applies to the argument (4+ / 0-)

that Ender's Game shouldn't be read because Card is a homophobe (yup, he is, in spades), or Heinlein's work shouldn't be read because he's a Libertarian (not particularly true), or L. Ron Hubbard because Scientology (well, he's a crappy writer, but that's another argument).

Writers, a lot of them, are kinda strange people. (Most people are, actually, but I digress.) Once you go from discussing the merits and demerits of the work to the merits and demerits of the writer, reasonable discussion flies out the window in terror.

At least half the future I've been expecting hasn't gotten here yet. Sigh.... (Yes, there's gender bias in my name; no, I wasn't thinking about it when I signed up. My apologies.)
