    Not sure why I didn't get it sooner. The bacteria in the Petri dish get to a point where they are killing themselves off with their toxic waste. But there are always some sturdy little buggers in there, and they can start to change, evolve, at that point into something really dangerous.

    So, the lab assistant has the task of making sure that Petri dish is sterilized, the bacteria are killed off with some stuff that leaves no survivors.

    And that's where we're heading folks. Barring a miracle. It may take awhile. But it's coming.

    Or maybe I'm just incredibly depressed tonight.

    I must be dreaming...
