    •  The Kleck study (4+ / 0-)

The Kleck study included a chart on "The Nature of Defensive Gun Incidents".  The chart included what the defender did with the gun, where the DGU occurred, the type of crime the defender claimed was occurring, whether the defender was armed, was any violence directed at the defender, and more.

On the question of location, the Kleck study had the following numbers:
      In the defender's house - 37%
Near the defenders house - 36%
Home of friend, relative, neighbor - 4%
      Commercial place - 7.5%
Parking lot or garage - 4.5%
      School - 0.3%
Open area, on street, or on public transportation - 7.4%
      Other - 2.5%
