  •  As jan and Pam both said, this was a choice (12+ / 0-)

of the group to keep the name and Itzl's picture.   It is our choice, and ours alone.

I don't mean to cause trouble either, but for someone who doesn't frequent this diary, why are you asking, and why do you care?

I am a work in progress. Still.

    •  And I don't recall Itzl being banned (13+ / 0-)

and none of the Admins have a problem with it or they would have let us know. We decided to keep the name and the mascot and thus not cause confusion with a change.  Itzl is cute and works hard, and deserves the credit. It works for us. After all he's a hearing alert dog, and this is the Itzl Alert Network.

It was our choice, we talked about it, we decided months ago when it first happened. There's really nothing more to talk about on that topic.

      •  This was the best answer to what was really a (9+ / 0-)

        legitimate question.

To be honest I wondered, myself..but hesitated to ask because there was so much upset back when it happened.

When I wandered into IAN, I decided not to ask.  But I cannot fault someone else for asking, either.

Thanks, MOM for a thoughtful answer to a reasonable question.

        Hugs,
        Marti

        •  Appreciate your honesty, Marti. To expand (9+ / 0-)

on my feelings, the OP's questioning of Itzl's legitimacy as a service dog  definitely crossed the line into Dickishness. He also, iirc, challenged the avatar immediately, like the same day that Noddy was banned, and did so in a rather aggressive way. As others have pointed out, he doesn't frequent this group so it just seems like he really is trying to stir up trouble.

          •  I'm not aware of all the backstory, admittedly. (7+ / 0-)

Knowing, now, that it was a group decision to keep the avatar for Itzl is good enough for me, and probably all the explanation that should be needed.

I tend to give the benefit of the doubt, though.  Heaven knows I've needed it a time or ten.  Even if you're correct in your view, it's better to get a simple, clear answer out the way MOM did.  'Cause if it doesn't matter to the OP or you or me....I'll wager there are more than a few readers and lurkers who will see it and have a greater understanding and appreciation for how IAN does things.  We don't get stirred, we get the record straight.  And that's all to the good, isn't it.

dang. That didn't get 'wordy' or anything, did it?  :-)  That was my very, very long-winded way of saying that I understand your feelings of a pretty complex situation.  Oh, and I am glad IAN voted to keep Itzl as the avatar.  That cute little face is a cheery sight in the mornings.  But if we ever vote to change it...I'm going with the Kite Eating Tree!!

            :-D

            Hugs,
            Marti
