    And while there might be 17 GOP votes for a clean bill, I doubt that there are 17 GOP Reps who would attach their name to an actual discharge petition.  It would be like signing up for an obvious primary challenge.

      ..wouldn't the same be true of voting with the Democrats for a clean CR bill without any Obamacare language?

        And I believe that voting for something after the shutdown and saying, "Well, we tried" is a little bit less of an affirmative act than signing a petition to actually bring it to the floor.
