    ...and/or quickly understand that they are being reckless and irresponsible, and that American's are not amused.  

    Cvannatta I hope that they settle this mess quickly and without furloughs, or very short ones.

    I was a federal employee and understand how these furloughs negatively and unfairly affect real people.  I was considered "essential", so had to report to work, but didn't get paid (was eventually paid retroactively).  

    My son is in the military and faces that same kind of scenario and he is the sole provider for his family.  It will be a hardship for him, and for thousands of other military and civilian federal workers too.

        lawsuits filed for the government violating its own federal wage laws.

        ...civilian and military personnel who are considered vital... national security, public safety, health and welfare would be called to work — about 1.3 million civilian employees and 1.4 million in the military.

        By law, they all must be paid.

        Then again:  

        But the law does not say when.
        Though the GOP has demonstrated its stupidity many times over the past several years, not paying the military--think about it Congress...--seems to be incredibly stupid even for them.
