  •  Beans... always liked them but recently (0+ / 0-)

after a phase where I was eating more... lots of hummus, bean stews etc... I began to have worsening digestive symptoms to the point that in desperation I cut out all legumes, dairy (except  a little sheep/goat cheese) nightshade and Wheat/Barley/oats...

This helped and I recovered but any return to them... it was an elimination diet and reintroducing these in any quantity or beyond very occasional and it brings back all the symptoms. legumes especially... Having some protein... low amounts of chicken and fish with some pork and occasional beef plus eggs seems to work. The protein is said to help damaged guts and using coconut oil along with olive oil for fats also is said to aid keeping the gut lining intact.

There are lectins in legumes and related proteins in Wheat not the gluten... that can be damaging to the gut lining of some people. I may have had a low level problem my whole life that only got worse as I got past 50 and 60...

So no potatoes, no hot peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, hot peppers... no bread, oatmeal, barley in stews.... and no beans, anything to do with soy... no interesting cheeses and regular yogurt...

Fortunately sweet potatoes are fine... and eating a lot more nuts these days... almonds especially....

Of why nothing can be claimed to be good for everyone. We all developed genetically in different environments, so have different systems.

due to the high potassium content.  So now of course I crave tofu :/
