sure, don't we all wish we were perfect and that everything happened on the timeline we had in mind.

What's past is past, and the only value it has is to teach us. I'd say maybe the president and the Democrats have learned something, later than sooner, but still. I'm struggling to figure out the republicans have learned, hopefully, that is yet to come.

They learned the lesson too late, and it's still not clear they know what they're doing.

To me... that's almost the premise of your diary. You appear SO psyched by the fact that they did not fold... like it was some kinda promised land instead of a normal expectation of somebody who put their hand on a hot stove.

If these idiots had the ability to learn from the past, we wouldn't be where we are today.

The only good thing I have to say here is that they (dems) haven't managed to completely screw up a winning political position.  Yet.  My faith ain't that high as you might surmise.

Some folks trust to reason. Others trust to might. I don't trust to nothing. But I know it come out right.

      •  You mistake the premise of my diary, (7+ / 0-)

and assume I feel like you do about the president and the Democrats. I don't. I agree both the president and the democrats have made mistakes, I don't agree on your, to me, rather facile timeline on when that should have happened, according to your or my agenda.

So without going into all that too much more, let me just be clear, that my diary was about Democrats standing up to what they damn well should of, tonight, now, when it counts. It needed to be done, and it was done. That's all.
