That those who give up their salaries have access to. Democrats who have other means of support should jump right on it and make a point of saying how easy it is for people like themselves and Senator Cruz, who are fortunate enough to have other means of support, whether it's from investments or from their spouse. But what about the average civil servant who's put in many years of hard work, only to face losing not just their pay check but their health insurance too?

Something along those lines . . . of course given the vitriol Republicans have been hurling at civil servants, i.e. guvment workers, for the last thirty years it's a bit tricky but I think the average person can empathize with their plight compared to the lack of hardship facing the average member of Congress, most of whom can well afford to give up their salaries for a while.

aren't janitors, cafeteria workers, security guards that work in federal gov't buildings being sent home without pay?  Those are the people we should be emphasizing.  I mean absolutely no offense to office workers, etc etc I know not all of them make much either but it's the working, blue collar type workers and their struggles we should be highlighting as everyone will automatically know that a janitor of cafeteria worker doesn't make much at all.  And all those living paycheck to paycheck, etc they have no pay and Democrats should be calling out Rethugs about are they at least going to get back pay or not.  They need to demand an answer now!
