  •  We all have one goal: Record 2014 turnout (12+ / 0-)

There's only one chance to stop this madness. And that's what this is, madness.

This is not business as usual. This is not a Congress problem. This is not a, "All the parties are the same and corporate!" problem. This is a Tea Party problem.

All of the polling data tells us that 2014 belongs to the Republicans. They have gerrymandered districts, they have a President with a below 50% approval rating, they have laws that are more restrictive on people voting.

All we've got is our majority. If Progressives band together, we're a majority. And when we have elections with record turn outs, not typical or below-typical turnouts, but record turn outs, we win.

This is not a business as usual election. This is an existential crisis. The Tea Party wants to destroy Social Security, Medicare, and the ACA. They don't care how they do it.

The only tool we have is our majority. We need record voter turnout in 2014. That is our only chance. No matter how foolish, how stupid, how blind we see the Republican party act, that realization isn't enough.

And honestly, record voter turn out might not be enough. But it's our best shot.

    We have to do this.

We have the numbers, they have the tricks. Only way to beat back the gerrymandering and voter restriction tricks is to bring numbers to the voting booths.

And we have the numbers! Now to keep up a stream of letters to the editor and other media methods to keep voters aware of the stakes in the 2014 election.

the Democrat was a "weak candidate" or "didn't run a strong campaign".  This is not American Idol - we are fighting for a platform not voting for a beauty queen/king.

And on top of that 100% yes, I'd say we need to build energy now, and harness it into a movement, lest we forget by 2014.

2010 we stayed home, the Tea Party used their gerrymandate to win. In 2011, we were shocked at their behavior. It's 2013, and they're still playing Jihadi.

Like you said, This is not American Idol; we are fighting for a progressive future.
