  •  So called moderate Republicans are deluded (43+ / 0-)

Saying there is no "leadership" from the President is ignoring that the GOP is attempting a coup.  Their ideas lost in the last national election, yet they are trying to install their policies via a back door.

That is dangerous to our system of government.  To capitulate to that would the biggest failure of leadership.

And the Tea Party is not one and the same as the Republicans?  Republicans don't already have a government hating image?  I want some of whatever this jackass is smoking.

In the late 70's. My best friends mother was president of the League of Women Voters. She once told me that the Republicans of Texas are prone to be the bullies and she forewarned of the coming Red State revolution, which she blamed on "folks from Michigan and New York" moving down for the jobs in the Defense industry (Grumman, LTV, TI, etc.) I am not sure her geography was correct, but her vision sure was!

She also told me that Carter was "allowed" to be elected by the Republicans at the time so they could "scre him around" thereby pointing to the way for a republican. this was about 1978 so she had no clear idea that Reagan would be the candidate, but again, she was prescient with her ideas.

    •  Well.... (5+ / 0-)

I don't think you realize just how far down the rabbit hole goes with the Tea Party nuts.

I don't care for Republicans, but there once was a time, long ago, that there were sincere policy differences between Republicans and Democrats but yet they still managed to mostly get shit done as the levers of power swung between the two parties.

The Tea Party morons are a whole new brand of crazy and the "moderate" Republicans are finally realizing just how nuts they are. The Tea Party has attempted a coup of the Republican party by running their crazy candidates in the Republican primaries and winning. In districts where the candidate with the (R) next to their name wins every time the Tea Party has racked up an impressive set of wins by getting out the batshit-insane vote in the primaries.

In most cases it's much, much easier to win a primary due to the much lower voter turnout. So, while the Tea Party and the Republicans share many of the same views, the Tea Party takes many of those views to the extreme because... well, because they're fucking stupid is why.

The Republicans and Tea Party are similar, but not the same, they just happen to be using the same Primary elections to get their candidates into office.
