    you're making my point. Medicare and Social Security were started so long ago that while Democrats proudly refer to the New Deal and the Great Society, that's just too arcane for most - they just accept these programs as somehow being the result of some kind of spontaneous bi-partisan combustion decades ago.

    Because the ACA is NEW and everyone knows from which party it originates, we should get some traction for awhile.

    UNLESS the President is dumb enough to initiate an offer of something like chained CPI and to put the Republicans into the "We're defending your Social Security" mode as happened with Medicare in 2010.

      Actually, my expectation.

      He really seems oblivious to how politically poisonous it is, and has obsessively pursued it like Ahab after the great white whale since 2009.

      I don't know how Biden thinks he's going to run on a record like that.  He was in Iowa recently and clearly is running.
