    the first in a series, can lead to actually purchasing more. Or as Sara R noted upthread, one can easily purchase an ebook after reading it.

    Libraries represent the last sanctuary for a thinking mind. We have seen the privatization of our public school systems and the emphasis on teaching to tests instead of teaching information or thought processes. Only in a public library does a citizen have the absolute right, and more importantly, the access, to learn what is going on in his world. We need to keep that access available on terms equitable to all parties.
