from the next vote for Speaker.  So let's say Boehner beats back teabagger challenges for GOP caucus leadership.  OK, but then he has to run in a House-wide election for Speaker against the Democratic leader (and theoretically anyone else that throws his/her hat in the ring, which isn't limited to actual House members).  If the teabaggers abstain from voting in the Speaker election, then the Dem leader wins the Speakership.

But before it even got to that point, the teabagger congressmen would try to convince the other repubs that they are deadly serious about their threat to abstain from voting in the Speaker election, thus forcing the other GOP house members to dump Boehner as caucus leader.  They'd pick a new leader and run him for Speaker.

if Rep Pelosi and the Dems assured Boehner they would support him as speaker if he brought the clean CR to a vote, then the Dems and the less insane Rs would reduce the Tea Party to almost no power. Any challenge by the Tea Party for the speakership would be unsuccessful. That would also send a message that everyone is tired of them.
