I know they have not passed the expansion in NC, but are you sure that single people aren't covered by Medicaid? If so, that's borderline insane given the rising number of singles as a percentage of the population. Can't say I'm surprised though. Hell, the Democrats tried, but the Supreme Court let them down on that. Eventually all of the states will come around on that though, too much money to pass up. It may take some years...

government in NC took a hard right turn and will be doing everything they can to undermine the success of the ACA instead of working to make it a success like CA is doing.

      •  Eh, won't work really (0+ / 0-)

People will just go to the federal website to get insurance. And the rates weren't bad there. They were about what I was expecting. I've heard Wyoming is the worst. But yeah, California is doing a really good job. As others here have pointed out, it's funny what can happen when you have people in government who want it to work.

    •  Covering singles was part of the expansion. I (0+ / 0-)

am single (with an adult child) and lived in NY most of my life.  NY has one of the most generous Medicaid plans, but it is only for children, and parents of minor children. (and seniors and the disabled).

Apparently it is the same in NC:

Medicaid serves low-income parents, children, seniors, and people with disabilities.
