  •  Teabaggers never wanted it. (30+ / 0-)

This diary ignores that reality. The teabaggers want no deals with Obama. They want to obstruct everything he wants.

look for my eSci diary series Thursday evening.

    •  OK (29+ / 0-)

So, following this logic, Boner has allowed the teabaggers to shut down the government in a quixotic effort to get rid of something they don't like (Obamacare) so that they will accept some other thing they don't like (the taxes in the grand bargain).

Seriously, there reward for getting nothing will be a shit sandwich of higher taxes?

As for the theory they would accept it because it was the only way out of the current impasses--that doesn't make sense either--cause Obama has, on record, stated that he would only negotiate a grand bargain AFTER the republicans pass a clean funding bill. Thus, even in the reverso world being postulated, Obama and Boner would lose all of their negotiating power to force a grand bargain on the tea partiers.

So no, none of this makes even a little bit of sense.

the Teabaggers would make a deal with Obama if he accepted some of their terms.  That would allow them to act like they had humiliated him and weakened his Presidency.

      Which they would have done.

    •  The Tea Party wants to "win" (6+ / 0-)

Whatever that means.  They want to destroy.  They could fight to the death over a toothpick, but if they beat the Dems or Obama, it will all be worth it.

The conservative Tea Partiers are engaged in an existential quest that they barely understand themselves.....They have been beaten and lost the Presidency.  They just need to win something to validate themselves.

So, they make up bogeymen like Obamacare....

Most of these folks are conservative in their religious views too.  Modernity has been hard on them....Global warming, Evolution, women who do not adhere to Biblical submissiveness, losing their racial status as majority white, and now the ignominy of gay rights and marriage equality.

      •  That's the Teabaggers, all right -- &all the RWNJs (2+ / 0-)

They have been living in some hazy illusion of the '50s for their entire lives -- or what they believe they remembered the '50s were, as depicted by Elvis movies and those "wholesome" family sitcoms -- but as America starts to fall apart because nobody's doing the maintenance, reality is poking gaping openings in their fantasy bubble and they panic. Financial status is unpredictable and shaky (Blame the illegals, not the banks who did the damage), social orders are crumbling (it's the gays' fault, not the repressive conservative laws that stigmatized them in the first place) -- suddenly faced with having to propel themselves all the way from 1953 to 2013 these maladjusted people literally go crazy ... which explains the NRA, the Tea Party, RW talk radio and Fox News, all the totally insane positions and groups out there.
There is no cure for this plague except time. Eventually all the demented people who were living in the '50s -- whether they actually did or were raised on the images and folklore they read or saw of it -- will die. The time hemorrhaging will end.  And a semblance of sanity will return to hopefully repair our badly-damaged society.

        •  They should just read a Tom Wolfe novel (0+ / 0-)

and snuggle up by the fireplace and not go out ever again.

Some of them can indeed read!

Ayn sucks. Please know I am not rude. I cannot rec anything from this browser. When I rec or post diaries I am a guest at some exotic locale's computer.
