  •  So you believe our Pres is playing games? (0+ / 0-)

Are you saying he's playing games to take advantage of a serious situation which is hurting millions?  Do you believe that Obama is actually responsible for the shut down (that is, did he insist on a stance that would create it)?  I don't often HR a comment but defending the GOP's attempts to hijack the patriotic photo-ops while our President puts into place the necessary steps to comply with their shut down order puts us back in the days when opposing the Iraq War was anti-American.  It severely weakens our side while ignoring the very facts creating the issue.  That's too serious to let slide.

the shutdown by the Administration, yes. After all, if the strategy is to blame Republicans for the shutdown in the first place, it only seems logical to blame them for the consequences, whether they are truly necessary or not. We apparently disagree what constitutes 'necessary steps'. In particular, the National Park Service is well known for dramatic shutdown gestures of questionable merit, e.g. shutting down privately funded and privately operated parks, closing scenic highways that require more manpower to restrict than leave open, and closing open-air memorials.

I'm agnostic about the cause of the shutdown, except for the fact that the lack of Regular Order budgeting since 2009 made it inevitable. Recall a shutdown was avoided only at the last minute in 2011. That implementation of this one has been so haphazard to me shows an alarming lack of foresight, irrespective of who 'caused' it.

      •  Amazing. (0+ / 0-)

You don't sound stupid and yet it's so hard to give this President an inch of support.  That, to me, is astounding.  The lack of support is the very reason he had to be careful to not look partisan in 2011 and careful to not demand more than the breadcrumbs we got then in this fight.  One can't make demands when people won't stand behind you.  So he was careful but they reached for more, way more, and finally went too far.  You still won't support him.  That's amazing to me.
