I drive a hybrid Honda, shop at Wild Oats, drink nothing but micro-brew and Fiji Water, and Amazon calls once a week with the latest in organic cotton fashion. I just heard that US energy worries are over thanks to huge new reserves of carbon based natural gas, and I am feeling most smug and secure at the top of the global distribution system.......................

Seriously folks we are all, as hard as it is to admit try as we might to be good, living a the top of the food chain as the human population approaches 8 billion, 2/3 of us at reproductive age or younger.  Demographers project continued growth to 12 billion or a crash starting around mid-century to 6.  Take your pick; either way life in the near future is going to be nasty.  Collapse is coming quietly now, but the lamentations of starving billions with a tympani of exploded nuclear bombs will be the song of the future.
