And why the hell did this suddenly happen?  Thanks so much!  I couldn't find anything in my profile on DKos.

do it once, it takes the opportunity to fill it in for you. Just ignore it - I do.

I don't know Chrome well enough to tell you where to look, but it should have a "Clear History" option that will either clear the autofill fields.  You should also have an option .,.. maybe under "Tools" (That's where Firefox puts it anyway) that allows you to disable the autofill feature.

When you access a form, it's looking for certain names of fields on the form to see if it can suggest something for you.  So if you fill out a form on one site that uses "first_name" as a field ID, and you go to another site that has a form with a field named "first_name" it may fill it in because that's what it thinks is supposed to go there.  Alternately, you might be able to double click in that field and have it give you a list of options.  Many web forms use the same or similar field names internally, so the browser is trying to be helpful.  (It's useful when you fill out as many petitions as I do I can tell ya.)  So it could very well be that this feature has been enabled for a long time and you didn't know it.

Incredible how these frigging browsers take over -- bad enough I have to deal with MS hijacks.
