non-Cruzer Repubs who have expressed a desire to end the shutdown that they now have increased leverage in swaying Boehner to bring the CR (at least) to a vote?  You don't see this as Boehner beginning his dissociation of support or "Kermitting" to his puppetmaster, Cruz?

Concommittantly, won't Boehner feel more like asserting his leadership if he believes these same non-Cruzers will truly back him in ending the shutdown.  I wonder if he hasn't taken the pulse of his caucus and concluded this is so.

It's easier for him to start with the deficit, then move to the shutdown once he's confident some have his back and are tired of Cruz's tactics.

    Opinions differ.

    •  No I don't think this is linked to (0+ / 0-)

pressure from the non-Cruz Repubs. Boehner knows that a default is an economic disaster, and he needed to lay this on the table now.

There is no leverage right now from the non-Cruzers on the CR. Saying they would vote for a clean CR has little significance. What they need to say is that they would sign a discharge petition to bring it to the floor for a vote over the leadership's objection. And they are not saying that. Anything less is no leverage at all.
