  •  It is imperative that Americans speak up (0+ / 0-)

    That's what the author wrote.

The problem is that those of us who read DailyKos fall into one of two categories:

1 - True Believers, who understand fully, how wrong the GOP and Tea Party are
2 - Online Bullies, who are sometimes paid to give the rest of us garbage, in response to the articles and the comments we post.
So, while saying "It is imperative that Americans speak up" is on target, the writer is reaching the wrong target.  We who understand how wrong the GOP is for our country, and how much they lie, obstruct, and obfuscate (word of the day) - trying to misdirect the rest of the country - we ourselves will not usually reach those who need to know the truth.

What is worse is that we cannot count on the media to tell the public what is really going on!

Bill Maher, on his HBO show, has made it clear that the representatives, who are so opposed to anything that helps our country move forward, are from those gerrymandered parts of the country.  And those core 80 representatives know, in their hearts, that they will never be challenged; that they are secure in being re-elected.

Moreover, they hold the keys to moving forward, to stopping the shutdown, the sequester, and the debt ceiling issue that is next up.

While it is true that you cannot have a war of wits with an unarmed foe, it is also true that you cannot have a meeting of the minds with a mindless fanatic opponent.  They shut down the government, because they could!  They wanted nothing other than to do that.

We have a serious problem, folks, and the Tea Party/GOP hold the key to the solution.

That is the scariest proposition of all!

There is no right way to do the wrong thing!

    •  And it's about to get scarier (0+ / 0-)

The game of chicken over the debt limit is hurtling towards us at a frightening pace, and if they decide to go over the cliff on that one it'll make this shutdown look like a day at the beach.

I'll believe corporations are people when one comes home from Afghanistan in a body bag.
