  •  Very true. (8+ / 0-)

But in order for someone to enjoy Calvinball people need to know what they're in for and how to play going into the game. Its a game that rewards cleverness and creativity. The GOP's version of Calvinball involves them making up the rules and Obama following them to the letter with no sayso in the matter. They can't even make an anarchist game fun. They all suck.

Why do I have the feeling George W. Bush joined the Stonecutters, ate a mess of ribs, and used the Constitution as a napkin?

    •  Actually, neither Calvin nor Hobbes always (6+ / 0-)

agreed with the other's new rule of the moment - if, indeed, they understood them at all.  But they played anyway.

The most violent element in society is ignorance.

involved both Calvin and Hobbes one-upping each in completely ridiculous manners but each in the spirit of the game. They didn't tend to argue much during Calvinball. It was baseball and football that brought on the fights. Calvinball was an exercise of their imagination and they treated it as such.
