    •  One would think, except for Chicago (3+ / 0-)

who were "too clever by half."That's a doozy of a read, Ezell v. Chicago. We will have a diary on it after we get through reviewing Heller and McDonald.

Days after McDonald, the Chicago city council thought they'd be clever and pass an ordinance requiring training and then pass a law banning any civilian gun ranges within the city. The case is a study in how NOT to set policy or justify a new law.

    •  And you can laugh, I don't mind =) (4+ / 0-)

But it wasn't obvious (to me) from the outside that courts would be stating that so matter of factly in their opinions. As I've said I'm not even a lawyer, so learning some of the basic language of Court Opinions has been eye opening.

I had no idea that hundreds of gun laws have been upheld since Heller.

        Meaning "restirctions", bans", etc?

There can be no protection locally if we're content to ignore the fact that there are no controls globally.

          •  Okay, then what was your point in even writing (0+ / 0-)

            this?

If you have no idea what the law is, and you're purporting to say something about what the law is, what do you really have to say that matters?

I gave you the benefit of the doubt at the begining.

In legal battles the fine, fine, fine details are what the fight is really over, and you don't know that this is even happening.

And RKBA (and whoever else) be damned for trying to claim otherwise.

Right now, you're simply aiding and abetting!

            •  Reread her comment (7+ / 0-)

She said she had no idea before she started doing the research and reading the cases. Now that she has done so, she has a greater understanding of the gun laws which had been upheld.

You misread her comment so you could attack her.

            •  Another teachable comment - thanks OPS! (0+ / 0-)

The pattern is clear. The commentor is attempting to bully the diarest with personal insults and insinuations of bad character. The reply by CenPhx is an example of community moderation. It points out a problem, explains why it's a problem and offers a corrective alternative.
