    I recall that pseudo-legal farce quite well.  The legal justification was essentially a convenient device for accomplishing the true aim: public humiliation.  
    In politics, nothing accomplishes that goal like sex (certainly not lying, which comes with the job).

      but when you do it under oath, it can really bite you.

        but the crosshairs had been locked on him long before then.  
        Not unlike today's right wing salivating at the thought of impeaching Obama... when they can come up with a crime (or at least a pretext for witch hunts and depositions).

        As far as I'm concerned, that's the sin, and the crime, that we need to remember from those days -- because Republicans will play out that scheme again, if permitted to do so.
