  •  I'm only exaggerating (6+ / 0-)

Democratic Candidate John Ewing was on the verge of knocking off Lee Terry in 2012 for re-election in NE-02 (Terry defeated him only by 1.6% points), which I understand contains a larger Democratic constituency versus NE-01 and NE-03.  Omaha is also included.

However, when I say "another one bites the dust," it could point to the potentially inevitable as quite a number of GOP Congressmen/Congresswomen are blowing up lately and their rants or outbursts can be used against them as they run for re-election.  Whether this means the Democratic base will be fired up in the GOP-occupied districts or if the Democratic challenger (if one) will win the seat from the incumbents making headlines, that remains to be seen.

However, NE-02 can be a pickup for the Democrats, perhaps an easier one than most.  There just needs to be a credible candidate.  Mark Sullivan is the only Democratic Congressional candidate running in Nebraska but he's running in NE-03, more red than NE-02.
