    It has been obvious from the beginning that he was in this fight for himself, not the Republican party as a whole, but I did wonder just why he considered the Republican nomination such a great prize if he was bound to lose in the general, and he surely would.
    I think a third party is a very strong possibility, since the tea party folks are almost as angry with "establishment" Republicans as they are with Democrats, and calls for forming a third party have been getting more frequent.
    Now obviously as the nominee of a third party he also wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning the presidency, but if he managed to get more votes than Perot, and his new party lived to compete again, his place in history would be assured.
