    ...and that's why I'm skeptical of it.  Because political party affiliation is exactly like religious affiliation.  Especially for Republicans.

    That's why it's so incredibly difficult to discuss facts and reality 'n' stuff with them - because eventually those things run right up against the reptilian, dogma-loving part of their minds; the part that has been preconditioned to believe in fairy tales.  And then they get confused.  And when they get confused, they get scared.  And when they get scared, they run away - to listen to Uncle Rush or Cousin Sean.  Or worse yet, they want to fight - for having made them think, I guess.

    The key, I think, is to have a pre-existing relationship with a reasonable Republican (if you can find one).  Because those are the only ones who will actually listen to you; they're the only ones who will take the time to actually reason with you.

    The Breitbart-loving, WND-reading kooks are a lost cause.  All we can do is try to marginalize them and to contain them - so they do as little damage as possible.

    All that is necessary for the triumph of the Right is that progressives do nothing.
