why are these candidates underfunded?  I miss ole Howard Dean and his brilliance.  The Democratic party better come to the realization that these rural areas produce some of the weirdest damn congress people ever.  Anyone ever hear of Steve King?  Bachmann anyone?  Time to take these races serious and put some moolah up.   It does not cost that much in these markets and it will go far, Dean proved it.  Thanks for the post.

    •  Not a rural district. (1+ / 0-)

      just like that

Terry represents a metropolitan area including the cities of Omaha and Bellevue and some surrounding suburbs. The district is listed as only slightly over 2% rural, nearly 98% urban.

Not every place in the Midwest is a farm.

      •  It became more rural in 2010 (0+ / 0-)

they gerrymandered his district and removed some of the more urban Bellevue areas and added in rural Sarpy County in the area by Springfield.  That is the only thing that saved his sorry rear in 2012.

Also, please don't forget that the ran in 1998 on a promise to only serve two terms.  He said that he realized when he got to Washington that the more tenure you have, the more power you have. He seriously said that leaving us to answer whether he was just stupid or a liar.

Let's also not forget that he has declared himself the champion of the Keystone XL Pipeline within the House.  The more he has gotten involved, the less likely it is that the pipeline will be approved.  Absent a complete cave by Obama, the pipeline appears to be DOA.

        •  It is still not rural (0+ / 0-)

Unless you think corn comes from freeways. Omaha is an actual city. Percentages of population urban vs. rural in the district that I quoted are current and accurate. Calling Omaha "rural" is just another absurd stereotype of the region.

And where exactly did I say a damn word about Lee Terry that implied I don't think he is an asshole and needed you to explain his shortcomings to me?

          •  Nebraska is rural without a doubt (0+ / 0-)

it is a rural state that calls its football team Huskers, certainly not an urban name.  That says it all.  We can all agree that Mr. Terry is described quite well by you.

        •  Thanks BlueHusker for that (1+ / 0-)

explanation.   When I said I miss Dean was that he did have a strategy for all 50 states.  When we have rural ones like Nebraska we tend to not support them properly and that was the question, why not?  These rural states send some real wackos to Washington and it is time to cull the herd.
