and the eye appointment. Get this-the dr. now says the test results were inconclusive and I need to see a retina specialist. The best news is that he didn't need to dilate my eyes so I went to pick new glasses. Didn't see anything that inspired me so I ordered new lenses for my sunglasses and the glasses I've been using. I found one pair of frames that sort of appealed to me but they're so different I want to think about them. The new lenses will be here in a week, if I still like the others I can order them then.

well, that is a disappointing diagnosis.  I hope everything turns out ok when you see the specialist.  jeebus.

I have beautiful frames that were a gift from one of my buddies who works at Coach in NYC -- Coach frames.  Completely out of my price range but free works.  I will probably go to COSTCO and get an eye exam and new lenses after the new year.  I also need prescription sunglasses since the ones I have are from 1985 -- big blue Vaurnet (sp?) frames.  I'll keep the frames because they are so funky.

      Wishing you well.

I'm becoming accustomed to living with uncertainty when it comes to my vision even if I don't like it. Back when this all started the doctors were telling me I would lose the rest of my vision within two years, that was 15 years ago and it hasn't happened yet so I pay less attention to them. At the same time I happened across someone reading tarot cards on Halloween and he told me that I would never lose all my vision, it would get worse but I would still have some. Unsurprisingly I chose to go with his prediction. The truth is no one really knows until it happens. I do not allow the doctors to do any invasive testing at all which seems to cause them a lot more angst than it does me.

    •  I just did that (5+ / 0-)

I ended up going with an invisible frame (thin memory wire only).

Those things were sheer torture, but my lenses are very, very thick.  Being only a wire, they dug into my ears and left huge, deep furrows.

I lasted a week and went back to my old frames, a very unstylish oval, but one I can wear comfortably.

for the ultra thin lenses and extra for anti-glare coating. Makes my lenses horribly expensive but I think it's worth it. Also lets me wear wire frames comfortably. The ones I'm considering are plastic so I could skip the ultra thin expense which is appealing.
